Swedish Dishcloths are best described as a cross between a sponge and a cloth... but better looking, and better for the planet.
Why use Swedish dishcloths instead of paper towels?
1 cloth replaces up to 17 rolls of paper towels
They can hold up to 20 x their weight
Compostable, reusable and less waste
Gentle on surfaces, but tough on grime
They're not just for washing up - Instead of plastic filled microfibre cloths, why not invest in something to help reduce your footprint that doesn't end up in landfill for thousands of years.
They're dishwasher & washing machine safe - so they don't smell like musty old sponges!
How to use a Swedish Dishcloth?
The same way you currently use paper towels, microfibre cloths, chux wipes and so on. Think of them as your go to, multi use, cleaning best friend. Replace your tired cleaning supplies with a one stop all rounder which does better for not only your home and pocket but your footprint.
How to clean and store them.
After washing up or use, a quick rinse and hang it up to dry. They dry stiff - but soften as soon as they touch water.
We recommend a weekly wash in either the dishwasher (top rack) or washing machine to keep them fresh.
How long do Swedish Dishcloths really last?
As a baseline we say up to 90 washes, or 3 months of daily use. But honestly - and personally, I have been using these for years and often get 6 months out of a cloth before its time to pop them in the compost. And this isfrom someone who has a dishwasher but still handwashes everything!
If they're used less frequently then they will last even longer - simple.
How do you dispose of them? And can you compost them?
Because they're made from 100% natural fibres you can absolutely compost them. How i do it is chop it up into smaller pieces and place straight into my home compost. However, if you don't have a home compost you can pop them straight into your regular green waste bin (just check your local council's rules as every state is slightly different). They break down just like food scraps do.
Where to buy Swedish Dishcloths in Australia?
You can find them in a few places (even IKEA has their own version). But if you’d rather support an Australian brand rooted in sustainability, beauty, and hand-drawn local design — we’ve got you covered.
